There might be a connection between the Shaffers and the Macfarlane decades before Ethel Millard (whose mother was a Macfarlane) married in 1924 Ambrose Osborn (whose mother was a Shaffer.) Ambrose's Shaffer grandparents and Ethel's Macfarlane grandparents are buried at the same cemetery. Also, there are Macfarlanes and Shaffers that I don't know how they are related to this family, that are living together in the Willington and Wellington, CT 1870 census.
